High school sports roundup: A-C Valley girls volleyball wins thriller
Maddy Dehart totaled 16 kills and nine blocks as A-C Valley’s girls volleyball team got past Cranberry in five sets on Saturday morning. The scores of the match were 20-25, 8-25, 28-26, 25-13 and 15-12.
– Mars won Saturday’s MAC Big Schools Tournament by going 3-0 through pool play, defeating Moon and Montour and moving on to face Beaver in the finals. The Planets won the championship match 25-21.

Using a pair of second-half goals, North Catholic powered back from a deficit to down Shady Side Academy 2-1 in a section clash on Saturday. Austin English’s unassisted marker early in the second half knotted the score before Justin Garvey prodded home a rebound with eight minutes to go.
Karns City 1, Brockway 1 — Mason Bell had the Gremlins only goal, Mason Sherwin an assist and Brock Dittman a penalty kick save and 12 others in the draw.
Springdale 3, Freeport 2 — The Yellowjackets led at halftime, tied it at two apiece in the latter half and fell behind for good with six minutes left as it bowed to Springdale 3-2. Ryan Sutara and Angelo Porco both scored for Freeport.
