Armco Credit Union expands out of Butler County

Armco Credit Union location in Cranberry Township.

Butler-based Armco Credit Union has merged with Swindell Dressler Credit Union, which will help bolster its footprint in the Pittsburgh region.

The merger, which became official Sept. 1, adds a fifth branch location for Armco at 4712 Clairton Blvd. in Pittsburgh. It will be known as the South Hills branch.

The South Hills branch is Armco’s first branch outside of Butler County.

This merger adds 300 members from Swindell Dressler to 700 existing Armco members in the Pittsburgh area, bringing Armco’s total membership to 40,969 as of Tuesday, Oct. 8, according to the National Credit Union Administration.

Armco stated it is looking for more “convenient“ locations for its customers in the Pittsburgh region, but a specific location has not yet been determined.

“This affirms our board’s commitment to growing responsibly,” Armco CEO Randy Cypher said. “Our focus remains on delivering the high-quality, member-focused experience that has built the credit union’s strong reputation over the years.”

Swindell Dressler was chartered in 1965 by Swindell Dressler International and has about $2 million in assets, which gives Armco roughly $580 million in assets according to the National Credit Union Administration.

Armco’s headquarters remains at 101 Hollywood Drive in Butler. It is the second largest credit union in Butler County based on assets, behind Clearview Credit Union which has $1,993,081,514 in assets and has 120,211 members according to the National Credit Union Administration.

Armco’s other locations are at Butler County Community College’s main campus, 107 College Drive in Butler; 1031 Aster Way in Mars and 106 Petrolia Street in Karns City.
