HARMONY — Borough council officially allocated funds from the American Rescue Plan Act to be used toward the upcoming stormwater project at a meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The second part of the funding, $44,100, was received by the borough in late 2022. The first part of the funding was received earlier and is “in the same ballpark,” according to council president Greg Such.

Municipalities across the commonwealth were mandated to allocate those funds before the Dec. 31 deadline.

The planned stormwater project, which will replace stormwater lines throughout the borough, will be starting “probably in a couple of weeks,” according to borough engineer Tom Thompson.

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 allocated $6.15 billion to counties, cities and local governments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Butler County received $36.4 million of that funding in 2021 and 2022 and will have all of that money allocated to projects and programs by the end of this year.
