Cranberry Township residents will see a slight increase in water rates as the calendar flips to 2025.

Rising operational costs and a planned rate increase levied on the township from its exclusive water provider, West View Water Authority, will raise the costs of a monthly water bill by $3.90 for the average customer.

“We’re receiving a 4.1% increase from West View Water,” township manager Dan Santoro said. “That, along with other estimated personnel and insurance costs and those kinds of things, are why there’s an increase in cost.”

As a result, the township’s water operations fund is expected to increase by 5.2% overall in comparison to the previous year. Out of the $11.1 million that has been budgeted out for that fund in 2025, water purchases account for $5.3 million or 48%.

“Other than that (the water rate increase), the budget maintains the same high-level services that we already provided the community with no tax increase,” Santoro said.

The township also is looking toward the future when it comes to providing safe water to residents. Officials will look to implement a water tank maintenance agreement with Southern Corrosion that would include the painting and restoration of all three water storage tanks, beginning with the south tank next year.

There also is a plan in place to conduct a sewer and water rate study in 2025 that can help predict rates over the next three to five years.
