Vitalant, Western Pennsylvania’s main blood provider, is asking for December blood donations to support local hospitals throughout the holiday season.

From Dec. 2 through 20, the nonprofit will provide donors with a $10 gift card and a chance to win one of five $5,000 gift cards through Vitalant’s Donor Rewards Program. Prospective blood donors can schedule donations via vitalant.org, the Vitalant app or by calling 1-877-258-4825.

Local blood drives will take place in Butler from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 1, at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Dec. 5, at the Center for Community Resources and from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 12, at 514 W. Wayne St.

There will also be blood drives from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Dec. 16, at Karns City Area Jr./Sr. High School and from noon to 5 p.m., Dec. 27, at St. Faustina Parish — St. Peter Church in Slippery Rock.
