Butler man held on drug and firearm charges

A Butler man is being held in Butler County Prison after being arrested on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Richard Ryan Coulter, 33, was arrested Nov. 25 after officers from the state police, Butler Patrol Unit and the Troop D Direct Response Team executed a search warrant at a home on Holyoke Road in Center Township.

Coulter has been charged with multiple infractions, including two felony counts of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; one felony count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited individual; two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance; and one misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Upon entering the home, officers found Coulter in the basement along with 153 glassine bags containing what officers suspect to be heroin/fentanyl, methamphetamine, various pills, more than $1,400 and a 12-gauge shotgun.

The criminal complaint also states that officers found Coulter was wanted in Virginia for violation of a court order.

Coulter was unable to post bond and was arraigned on Nov 26. The criminal docket from District Judge Lewis E. Stoughton lists both Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 for preliminary hearings.
