Butler getting 2 troopers from 171st cadet class

Two troopers from the 171st class of cadets that recently graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy have been assigned to the Butler barracks.

Logan M. Anderson and Ryan A. Bartosiewicz, who will report to the Butler barracks Dec. 16, were among 62 new troopers who graduated from the academy Friday, according to state police.

The 171st cadet class is the first class to graduate from the academy without a college credit requirement to become a trooper.

Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration waived the college credit requirement for applicants in August 2023. Since then, state police have seen an increase in cadet applications, receiving 1,830 applicants during the most recent application cycle without the requirement.
