Route 19 crash slows traffic in Cranberry Township Friday morning

A crash at the intersection of Route 19 and Route 228 in Cranberry Township slowed down traffic in the area on Friday morning, Dec. 20.

The vehicle crash with entrapment was reported before 7 a.m. According to a Facebook post from the Cranberry Volunteer Fire Company, one driver was entrapped in the driver side and a side removal was completed. Firefighters successfully removed the occupant 17 minutes after being dispatched.

The post went on to say that the intersection where the accident occurred is one of the busiest in the state, with about 80,000 cars passing through daily.

Police quickly moved to set up road detours and closures before the scene was officially cleared around 7:50 a.m.

The township’s fire department, police force and EMS team were joined on scene by fire departments from Adams Township and Marshall Township.
