Believe it or not, snow possible for Saturday

Winter Weather DME

Spring may officially be here, but winter may get the last laugh this weekend.

Forecasts for Saturday, March 22, predict temperatures as low as 22 degrees during the night, with rain showers during the day leading to a mix of rain and snow. The chance of precipitation ranges from 70% during the day to 30% during the night.

“It looks like we have a minor system going through, and it does look like we're going to see a little bit of snow,” said David Shallenberger, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

However, Shallenberger says that little to no accumulation of snow is expected.

“It’s not until we get that cold air coming in that we get a chance of accumulation, but we will have lost a lot of that moisture by then,” Shallenberger said. “The ground will be so warm that accumulation will be low.”

Saturday will bring little to no sunshine to Butler County. At least a chance of showers is predicted for every day from Friday, March 21, to Thursday, March 27. High temperatures during the week will reach only as high as 53 degrees Monday.

“We’re going to see some sunlight on Friday. Friday should be relatively clear,” Shallenberger said. “Then we’ll be cloudy on Saturday, and then you’ll see a little bit of sun on Sunday before our next disturbance.”
