Mars school district and Band Together Pittsburgh held an autism-friendly open mic night for students to express themselves musically.

The open mic night was held at Mars Area Middle School Wednesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. Students were able to “focus on the joy of expression,” regardless of musical experience.

The school district was able to provide amps, microphones, guitars, keyboards and percussion instruments for students who wanted to perform, so they could jam out.

Band Together Pittsburgh is a charity that uses music to bring people together. It uses music to inspire and enrich the lives of people on the autism spectrum.
