Mars Elementary hosts reading hospital activity

Students from Mars Area Elementary School turned their classroom into a mock hospital operating room as part of a Reading Skills Activity on Friday, April 11.
Wearing surgical hats and doctor name badges, students reviewed key reading concepts in preparation for the English/Language Arts Pennsylvania System of School Assessment.
Participants read passages to “diagnose” their patients, answered questions and cited text evidence related to concepts like theme, point of view, text structure, character traits, context clues and text features. To wrap up the activity, students played the board game Operation to treat their “patients.”
