Zelienople approves pair of special event applications
ZELIENOPLE — Borough council members unanimously approved two applications for upcoming summer events during a meeting on Monday, April 28.
The first granted approval for the Rotary Club of Zelienople to hold its annual Fourth of July Parade on Friday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Borough officials annually apply for the parade permit from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on the club’s behalf.
Members also gave approval to the Zelienople Area Business Association’s 61st annual Horse Trading Days, which will take place from July 17 to 19.

In other business, supervisors approved a request for the Civil Service Commission to provide a certified eligibility list in regards to hiring a new full-time police officer. A vacancy recently opened after an officer announced his retirement.
Additionally, in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday, members unanimously voted to cancel the Monday, May 26, council meeting.
