William Roberts Jr.

Roberts

William Frank Roberts Jr., 72, of Oconto, Wis., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024.

He was born on July 30, 1952, in Pittsburgh, to the late William Frank Roberts Sr. and the late Gloria Mae Merino.

Early on, at age 16, William was a junior police officer and firefighter. He also dabbled in a little construction work before joining the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, William joined the Zelienople Police Department on Jan. 2, 1979. After leaving the Zelienople Police Department, William then joined the Cranberry Police Department in June of 1982. He retired in 2016 after 37 years of service.

He loved to sing karaoke with his friends. He loved his football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers. He especially loved watching his grandson play football; he would always give him pointers on the game. He loved to travel with friends and family. He loved telling stories of when he was a police officer and all the action that went on while he was on duty; it would make you smile and laugh so hard your cheeks would hurt.

He absolutely loved his cars, having owned several unique ones. He loved spending time with friends and family most of all. He leaves behind a very dear friend of 50 years, “Hot Rod” Rodney McGee, and his sweet beloved dear friend of many years, Carol Michalski.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Christopher (Maria) Roberts; his granddaughters, Nicole (Cody) Carriveau and Ashley Tousey, and his grandson, Braidon Roberts; his sisters, Gloria Winter, Carol (John) Reubi and Barbara (Jim) Roth, all of Pennsylvania, and Robin (Milton) Francisco and Sheryl (Scott) Hughes of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darla; his parents, William and Gloria; and his niece, Brittney Rappe.
