Zelienople council to seek more information before considering proposed dog park

ZELIENOPLE — Borough council tabled a proposal for a dog park following opposition from nearby homeowners during a 7 p.m. public hearing that drew more than a dozen residents.

The approximately half-acre lot at the corner of Front and Hazel streets is currently a public green space, used for recreation and dog-walking. The proposal would create fenced areas for large and small dogs, a shelter and parking.

Joy and Steve Ostum, who live across the street from the proposed facility, raised concerns about noise, staffing by borough employees and the physical condition of the space once it sees increased traffic.

Council members said they will seek additional information on these issues before reconsidering the plan at a future meeting.
