Cranberry Planning Commission approves plans for new day care center
CRANBERRY TWP — Members of the township’s planning commission unanimously approved a conditional use application for a new day care facility during a meeting Monday, Jan. 27.
Pending final approval from supervisors at an upcoming meeting, owners of C&M Play Studio will seek to take over an existing 15,370- square-foot space at 3120 Unionville Road in Cranberry Business Park.
No land development is required for the new day care that will share the building with Johnson Controls, a fire protection services company.
John Donley, who is part of the Cranberry Business Park ownership group, gave a short presentation on the business’s plans, which include adding a fenced-in outdoor play area for a maximum of 250 children who will occupy the space.
Owners are planning to install safety bollards to protect the fenced-in area.
There also are plans for a gymnasium to be built inside the facility. The day care will serve children up to 3 years old and will limit 20 children to each room.
The facility will serve as an expansion for C&M Play Studio, which has operated a 32,000-square-foot center for nearly a decade in Carnegie.
“This is part of the expansion into the north in Cranberry Township,” Donley said during the presentation. “They’ve been looking into the market for a few years. Our building actually was basically a replica of the existing building, so immediately they were attracted to the park.”
